Our October 2016 trip took us back the the lovely Maldives. This
time we travelled to the extreme southern atoll and the resort of
Six
Senses Laamu. We flew with Emirates via Dubai to Male, capital of the
Maldives. From there we had to take a 50 minute flight to
Kahdhoo, near Gan, and just over one hundred and fifty miles north of
the equator. Finally it was a 30 minute high speed dash by
speedboat to the resort.
We stayed in an over-water villa, stilted above the
crystal clear water, with
an upper deck viewing platform, and outdoor shower, overlooking the
ocean. Our
transport on the island was by bike, tricycle or golf buggy. The island's
extremely well
stocked ice cream parlour supplied 42 different flavours,
completely free all day
every day.
On our return journey, we stopped
over in Dubai and this time we chose to stay in
The Address Hotel, in the
Marina District with it's huge
collection of expensive motor yachts and properties. The hotel
sits adjacent and is connected to
the Marina
Mall with it's large selection of shops.
We visited the
Downtown
Area to see the Dubai Fountain and the
Burj Khalifa
where they were projecting incredible lighting designs, showing
their support for Breast Cancer Awareness and other colourful
patterns, onto the full 2723
feet (830 metre) height of the tower.
